The defending champion Chennai Super Kings is looking forward to capture the record fourth title. Its campaign starts against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 23rd March 2019.
CSK, under the dynamic leadership of M S Dhoni had already won the trophy three times. Apart from winning it three times, CSK was runner up on four occasion. Only Mumbai Indians had won the trophy on three occasions. Captain M S Dhoni is in fabulous form in Australia, New Zealand and in India against Australia. MSD’s finishing skills unparalleled and not waned. If this is any indication, MSD is all set to do extremely well in IPL 2019.
The team is studded with all-rounders such as Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo, R Jadeja and recent sensation, against Australia, Kadar Jadhav. In Murali Vijay they had one of the fine openers. Faf Du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu add strength to their batting. In Suresh Raina, the lefthanded bat, CSK have one of the finest players in the history of IPL if not Indian cricket. Suresh Raina is the highest run getter in the history of IPL. He is an useful bowler and an outstanding fielder. M S Dhoni is immaculate behind the stumps. With Jadeja, Bravo, Watson and likes of Raina in the field CSK is one of the best fielding sides in the competition and the team to beat in IPL 2019.
The return of Mohit Sharma is a boost to its bowling unit. In the first two seasons of IPL Mohit Sharma had taken more than 20 wickets each. His deceptive bowling is a challenge to batsmen in the death overs. Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir are there to take spin bowling in T20 to the new heights.
Able leadership with cool head captain, a pack of all-rounders, consistency and return to home ground make CSK a formidable team to beat.
